Contact People First Healthcare
Call 1800 434 002 and talk to someone who can answer the question, or send the form and we'll call you back. There's no charge for the conversation.
What happens after you get in touch
Most people ringing an aged care provider for the first time have no idea what they're supposed to ask. That's fine. The conversation runs the other way round, and it goes roughly like this.
We call you back within one business day. The person calling works here. It isn't an offshore call centre and it isn't a sales team paid per booking.
The first question is where you're up to, because the answer changes everything after it. Do you have an approved Support at Home package? Are you waiting on one? Have you had an aged care assessment yet, or have you not started? Are you looking for a parent, a partner or yourself? Nobody is expected to know the terminology.
From there we explain the options that actually apply to your situation, in plain English, including the ones that don't involve us. If a Support at Home package is the right route but you're months off getting one, we'll say so. If what you need is a few hours of cleaning a fortnight and nothing else, we'll say that too rather than talk you into a care plan.
If you'd like to go ahead, the next step is a home visit from a care coordinator, who looks at the practicalities and builds the care plan from what they see. If you wouldn't, nothing happens. There's no charge for the call, no obligation afterwards, and we don't chase people.
What to have handy
Nothing is required. If you have these to hand the call is quicker, but don't go hunting through drawers before you ring.
- Your My Aged Care referral code, if a package has been assigned. It's on the letter from My Aged Care and it's how you nominate us as your provider.
- The date of your aged care assessment, if you've had one or have one booked.
- The suburb and postcode where care would be delivered, which tells us straight away whether we cover it.
- A rough sense of what's getting difficult: mornings, showering, meals, getting to appointments, being alone.
- Any preference about the carer, including gender and language. Say it early. It's much easier to arrange at the start.
If you're calling about something else
Feedback, a compliment or a complaint about care already being delivered goes through our feedback and complaints page, which sets out how it's handled and who to escalate to if we don't resolve it.
Job applications go through the careers page. Please don't send a résumé through the enquiry form below, because it routes to the intake team rather than to anyone doing hiring.
If you want to see what we actually deliver before you call, the services page lists all of it, and the locations pages cover where we work.
