Frankston is the outer edge of where we work in Victoria. Our office is at Essendon Fields, on the opposite side of the city, which sounds worse than it is: carers travel from where they live, not from the office, so the drive from Vaughan Street has nothing to do with your visit time. What it does mean is that our carer pool down here is smaller than it is in the north and west, and matching you to the right person can take longer.
So ring and ask about your street before you make any decisions. We would rather turn an enquiry away on the phone than sign someone up and let them down in the second week. That is a better basis for a decision than a coverage map with a circle drawn on it.
Home from Peninsula University Hospital
The hospital on Hastings Road was renamed Peninsula University Hospital in 2026, when the new clinical services tower opened, and most people in Frankston still call it Frankston Hospital. Whatever you call it, it is where the falls and the fractures and the strokes go, and it is where a lot of our enquiries start.
The pattern that costs people the most is predictable. Peninsula Health runs the day rehabilitation locally, the program does its job, and then it ends on a set date. Nobody does the exercises the following week, the walking stops, and three months later the person is less mobile than they were on discharge. In-home allied health keeps the physiotherapy running at the house, and in-home nursing handles wounds, medication management and the clinical follow-up.
A suburb that people retired into
Frankston and the top of the peninsula have an older age profile than the growth corridors, for the straightforward reason that people moved down here to retire near the water. That has two consequences for care.
The first is that the adult children are frequently somewhere else entirely, back in the city or interstate, which makes them dependent on a provider that actually tells them when something changes. The second is that the local housing is not standard suburban. Frankston South in particular is large blocks on slopes, steep drives, established gardens on a fall, and steps cut into the ground between the carport and the front door.
